I am hoping the weather changes soon so we can start playing
golf. We are starting to clean up the course and get ready for the season. Some
of the early season work on the course includes edging and adding sand to
bunkers as well as adding some fresh sod to the edges on #2 and #10 greens. We
are also starting to redo a couple of bunker edges that have become distorted
through years of edging and wear.
I wanted to take this opportunity to hit on a practice that
has become very important with the turf health around greens and tees.
We will be using the
red stakes for cart enter/ exit points from fairways again this year. There
will be a stake at the start of the fairway telling you it is ok to enter the
fairway with your cart and a second stake close to the green letting you know
when to exit the fairway and drive back to the path. I feel that throughout the
time we’ve used these reminder stakes we have had a large majority of player’s carts
obeying the red stakes as they played their rounds of golf. I appreciate
everyone doing their part in keeping carts on the paths especially at the
greens so that any chip shots around the putting surface can be made without
sitting in a cart track or on dirt due to cart traffic. Obeying the red stakes
will make for a much better overall product out there.
I hope to see you all on the course very soon.
